To prevent students from opening additional tabs, windows, applications, or monitors during an online quiz, test, or exam, NCTC eCampus uses Respondus LockDown Browser (LDB).
For the student to take the assessment, he or she must first download and install Respondus LockDown Browser. It is a one-time install per computer. The installation will only work with assessments delivered via NCTC. Respondus LockDown Browser is also available in most NCTC computer labs and faculty offices. Use Student View via Course Settings to preview Respondus Lockdown Browser on a specific quiz, test, or exam. Please note that in order to preview your assessment via Respondus LockDown Browser that it must be installed on your computer.

Respondus LDB Dashboard
Instructors manage Respondus LDB settings across all quizzes in their course via the Respondus LDB dashboard. Access the Respondus LDB dashboard via the Course Navigation list on the left hand side of your course in Canvas. Students can never see the link to the Respondus LDB dashboard or access it in any way. The Respondus LDB dashboard provides you with a central location to manage all LDB settings in your course, including turning Respondus LDB on or off for individual quizzes. It also gives you access to the following features:
- LockDown Browser iPad app: Free app available via iTunes that lets students use LockDown Browser on an iPad
- Accessibility support: Screen readers can now be used with LockDown Browser
- Early exit: Permits students to exit a quiz early for emergency situations; student submits a reason why, which is then reported to the instructor
For more information on using the Respondus LDB dashboard, please go to http://www.respondus.com/products/lockdown-browser/dashboard-Canvas.shtml.
